Senior Special Events

Through rewarding partnerships with local schools and organizations, Community Services sponsors a number of special events for senior adults throughout the year:

  • In May, we host our Healthy Living Lecture Series with an afternoon of interesting health lectures, health screenings, and complimentary refreshments at the Fine Arts Center. It's an informative, fun event for all seniors and their families!
  • Each summer, area residents are treated to a special picnic hosted by Cascade Township officials and firefighters.
  • Each fall, area residents enjoy a live musical performance (usually a vocalist with musicians) at the Fine Arts Center.
  • And every December we welcome the holiday season with a festive luncheon.

Trumpet Invasion

1 p.m.

Forest Hills Fine Arts Center

Our fall musical event, Trumpet Invasion, is presented by father and son musicians Rich Ridenour on the piano and Brandon Ridenour on the trumpet. It is a duo concert featuring classics and pops with original arrangements by the Ridenours: "Rhapsody in Blue," "Largo al factotum" from Barber of Seville, "Amazing Grace," "Carnival of Venice," and more.

Pianist Rich Ridenour is amazingly versatile, musical, and comical. He has made over 50 recordings, including Piano Pops 1 and 2 with the Grand Rapids Symphony.

At the age of 20, trumpeter Brandon became the youngest member ever to join the iconic Canadian Brass, a position he held for seven years. He has won multiple competitions and has performed across the world as a soloist, with leading orchestras, and in support for artists including Sting and James Taylor.
