Senior Special Events

Through rewarding partnerships with local schools and organizations, Community Services sponsors a number of special events for senior adults throughout the year:

  • In May, we host our Healthy Living Lecture Series with an afternoon of interesting health lectures, health screenings, and complimentary refreshments at the Fine Arts Center. It's an informative, fun event for all seniors and their families!
  • Each summer, area residents are treated to a special picnic hosted by Cascade Township officials and firefighters.
  • Each fall, area residents enjoy a live musical performance (usually a vocalist with musicians) at the Fine Arts Center.
  • And every December we welcome the holiday season with a festive luncheon.

Healthy Living Lecture Series 2015

When:  Wednesday, May 20, 2015,12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Forest Hills Fine Arts Center, 600 Forest Hill Avenue SE
Admission: FREE — no registration required!

You're invited to come to our annual event discussing today's health topics of interest to adults, especially seniors. This year, our special guest speaker, Juliet Dragos of WZZM TV-13, will present the keynote address:

• Keynote: The Second Toe Inspiration, 1 p.m.

Afterward, professionals from Mercy Health will give two 30-minute presentations with 15 minutes for questions and answers:

• Brain Health: What Can You Do to Remain Young?, 2 p.m.

• Relief from Shoulder Pain Through Surgery, 3 p.m.

Stay the afternoon to:

  • Visit informative exhibitor booths and participate in free health screenings provided by local businesses and organizations

  • Register for door prizes that include $200 gift cards from Forest Hills Foods and Fuel; and $250 VISA gift cards from Founders Bank & Trust, a division of Old National Bank.
  • Enjoy complimentary healthy snacks
